On ScreenPad-equipped versions, the area below the keyboard is both a pointing device and a secondary touchscreen. It should not be treated as a basic trackpad with no display, or confused with the main screen in the lid.
Operating mode, graphics drivers and ASUS ScreenXpert software can affect it, particularly after a Windows reinstall or update. We check these before recommending hardware.
How we assess and repair the fault
Identify the symptom. We check pointer movement, taps, clicks and gestures separately from the ScreenPad image and touchscreen response.
Check settings and hardware. The assessment considers the selected mode, relevant ASUS software, cable connections, glass and mounting. If the palm rest or trackpad is lifting, we also check for swelling or casing damage.
Agree on the part and test the result. We explain whether the job needs a trackpad component, ScreenPad assembly, connection repair or software work. After an approved repair, the relevant pointer, click, display and touch functions are tested.
Do not press a raised trackpad back into place. Stop using and charging the laptop if battery swelling is suspected. Hardware replacement normally does not require wiping Windows; any system repair or reinstall must be discussed separately.
